The Chiasmus of the World (So Far)

I’ve been nervous about writing this article for some time because it’s about as big a topic as they get – spanning the whole history of the world. But I know it must be written because the history of our world as we know it is swiftly coming to an end. So I will push past my fear and share what I have so far in order to help as many people as possible be prepared for what is coming.

The Chiasmus

This doesn’t include every detail I think it should, but it gives a pretty good overview of how the history of the world can be seen as a chiasmus. Pay close attention to the events at the end since they haven’t all happened yet.

A. The Earth was created by God in a perfect state and given to man
 B. The first people, Adam and Eve, lived in the Garden of Eden free from death and decay, and they were tempted by Satan to disobey God. They eventually gave in to temptation, and they fell into our current world of testing
  C. The world was filled with violence, Noah was commanded to build an Ark and invite all to come into it, but only his obedient family was saved while all others were destroyed in the Great Flood
   D. Worldly people built a great tower to get to heaven without going through God, their language was corrupted so they couldn’t understand each other, and they were forced to live in separate groups because their communal bonds were broken
    E. Sodom and Gomorrah engaged in extreme wickedness that permeated nearly every inhabitant, leading to their destruction. The righteous who fled the cities were spared their fate
     F. Abraham was promised by God that he would bring forth a great nation after he showed his willingness to sacrifice his only son’s life
      G. Twin brothers Jacob and Esau fought over their birthright, separated for many years, but eventually reconciled when Jacob triumphed
       H. Thirteen tribes of Israel were established on Egyptian-owned land in the Old World (Asher, Benjamin, Dan, Ephraim, Gad, Issachar, Judah, Levi, Manasseh, Naphtali, Reuben, Simeon, and Zebulun)
        I. Moses delivered the House of Israel from the King of Egypt through numerous miraculous events
         J. The children of Israel left captivity in the Exodus from Egypt on their way to the Promised Land to worship the God of Israel freely
          K. The Promised Land was conquered by the children of Israel who mostly replaced the previous inhabitants
           L. The Kingdoms of Israel and Judah were divided north and south of each other
            M. Jerusalem was destroyed by Babylon (which itself was destroyed shortly after), and the Jews were sent into exile for several generations
             N. There was a general apostasy as no prophets were found in the Old World for hundreds of years before Jesus Christ’s birth
              O. John the Baptist was sent forth to prepare the world for Jesus Christ’s Gospel
               P. Jesus Christ lived, taught in the land of Judea, and baptized people for three years
               P. Jesus Christ died, taught in the Spirit World, and was resurrected after three days
              O. Jesus Christ sent forth His Apostles into the world to share the Gospel
             N. There was a Great Apostasy after the Apostles were killed with no prophets for hundreds of years after Jesus Christ’s resurrection
            M. Jerusalem was destroyed by the Roman Empire (which itself was destroyed shortly after), and the Jews were sent into exile for many generations
           L. The Roman Empire was divided into the Western and Eastern Roman Empires
          K. The New World was conquered by Europeans who mostly replaced the previous inhabitants
         J. The Pilgrims left captivity in England and traveled to the New World to worship the God of Israel freely
        I. George Washington delivered the United States from the King of England through numerous miraculous events
       H. Thirteen states were established on previously British-owned land in the New World (Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia)
      G. Brothers fought each other in the American Civil War, split into two countries for a few years, but reconciled when the Union triumphed
     F. Abraham Lincoln rescued a great nation with help from God before he sacrificed his own life
    E. The sins of Sodom and Gomorrah permeate an increasing number in the modern world, leading to death and destruction. The righteous who flee such wickedness are spared their fate
   D. Worldly people build up great treasures and learning to replace God, our use of language is corrupted so we can’t understand each other, and many distinct groups try to live together without a common bond
  C. Our world is filled with wickedness, we are commanded to repent and come unto Jesus Christ, and only the obedient family of God will be saved from the coming destruction of the wicked in a great burning
 B. The people who are spared live in a world restored to its paradisiacal glory free from death, decay, and Satan’s temptations. After 1,000 years, Satan will be loosed, and we will have to defeat him once and for all
A. The Earth receives its final glory and is given to its faithful inhabitants

It’s Time to Prepare

A figurative Noah’s Ark is on the Earth, its door is wide open, and we’re being given the opportunity go get aboard and find safety from the coming storm. I’m not saying that only members of the Church of Jesus Christ will be spared the destruction of the world or that every good person will be spared major trials. I’m saying that if there are things in our lives we need to improve, now is the time to do it. Don’t wait until the metaphorical rain begins to pour down.

Those who are spared the coming fire of Jesus Christ’s glory will live in a peace unheard of since the days of Adam and Eve.

I will continue to hone this chiasmus, so it will likely change somewhat in the future. I’m sure there are plenty of things I’ve missed, particularly between H and C. We’re currently living in either D or C, and we can tell what will happen by looking to the past. I hope we will be wiser than the people who refused to listen to Noah by choosing to board the Old Ship Zion.
