Flattery Will Get You Everywhere, Thor

When I was first learning about blogging more than a decade and a half ago, I heard that one of the best ways to befriend other bloggers and get people to talk about me was to first talk about them. Create a top 10 list of bloggers, review another writer’s work, praise their ideas, or even challenge their suppositions. Well, that strategy definitely worked in the case of Thor Bjork because he just started a movie blog called Thor Versus Movies, and he complimented me by reviewing the Deja Reviewer website in his third post, entitled “A Quick Review.”

It’s always interesting to get an outside perspective on my work. Thankfully, his review isn’t all praise because receiving criticism is how I discover new ways to improve. He notes that I’m not always necessarily right in my takes on movies and I’m rather averse to gore, foul language, and other unsavory things in movies, which I admit can come across as me being prudish. But he’s willing to overlook those things because I’ve got some unique ways of looking at films that make him want to read on.

Based on the description of his website, it looks like he is a connoisseur of bad movies. If he turns out to be a fellow MST3K fan and Nostalgia Critic aficionado (I used to watch his videos, and I noticed a familiar phrase near the opening of Thor’s first post), we might just have a lot more in common than meets the eye. He praised my examples of cinematic chiasmus, so I left a comment on his post about me to let him know about a new one I have in the works. No, it’s not Spider-Man 3, but if you want to see what it is, head over to the Thor Versus Movies Blog at the first link above.

I wish him the best of luck in his effort, and I’ll add that he’s definitely right that I’m not stopping anytime soon when it comes to contributing something new every week to this website.

This is the Deja Reviewer bidding you farewell until we meet again.
