My wife recently introduced our kids and me to a TV special from 1988 starring a ventriloquist named Ronn Lucas. Actually, it’s starring a dummy named Buffalo Billy, while Lucas just kind of bumbles his way through the show. Of course, I’m being facetious. The man is a genius! His special is called Who’s in Charge Here? and it is on par with the best children’s entertainment I ever saw as a child.

I loved watching The Magic of David Copperfield specials in my childhood. It turns out that ventriloquists are basically the same as magicians. At least Ronn Lucas is. I highly encourage you to check out this wonderful 42-minute piece of entertainment that will have you laughing one minute and completely in awe of Lucas’s talent the next.

I don’t have anything deep or profound to say about it. I just want everyone to see this because I had no idea it existed, and I’m so glad I do now. My kids loved watching it, and we quote it often now. They even want to watch it again from time to time. It’s that good. Check it out, and get ready to feel like a kid again.
