I’ve heard that it takes a lot of time and effort to become an overnight success. Are 15 years enough time and nearly 900 published articles enough effort? It sure looks that way.

Something astonishing has been happening for the past six months. It’s like the floodgates have opened and I’m suddenly getting more subscribers than I’ve had before on the Deja Reviewer website. Check out these charts of my subscriber numbers I recorded on September 8, 2026, to see for yourself.

Not a Fluke

The funny thing is, I don’t know what changed. I’m still faithfully publishing one article per week like I’ve been doing since June 2011. And yet every day I get quite a few messages informing me that new people have subscribed to my blog.

At first, I wondered if it was some sort of fluke. Maybe WordPress was updating their system, and I was getting stray emails. But when it persisted, I had to start believing it was true. I’ve gone from a little over 2,600 subscribers (where I had stayed for several years) to now approaching 3,600 subscribers. I hope this trend continues.

Welcome, my friends! I’m grateful to everyone who’s been with me for years and also to all the additional people who’ve found me recently. I’ve gotten so many follows and recommendations from you.

I’m truly humbled and amazed by everything that’s happening. I can’t explain it. All I can say is thank you.

A Pledge and a Promise

One interesting thing to me is that new subscribers only get emailed about my latest articles when they’re published. But I also have a whole library of hundreds of articles you can enjoy. I’m particularly proud of my trendsetting Cinematic Chiasmus collection, Movie Matchups I originally named my website for, and all the creative directions I’ve taken in the Random Stuff section. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I think every category of my website has great stuff worth visiting.

I’m reminded of something I once heard from an investment company: Past performance is not a guarantee of future returns. But it’s a good sign. I’ve put a lot of thought and energy into creating wonderful content on this website. I appreciate the act of faith in me to follow my blog with the hope that I’ll provide even more valuable insights and fun connections you’ve never seen before.

The last six months have been very exciting. It looks like the secret’s out about the Deja Reviewer. I pledge to keep producing articles on topics I trust you’ll love reading. They all come from my heart, a heart that’s touched by all of this.
