I hadn’t seen Disney’s 1996 adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame in many years, but I’m glad I revisited it recently. It has a song that really spoke to me on this viewing. It’s called “God Help the Outcasts.”
I’m sure everyone feels like an outcast at some point. For example, it’s hard not to see yourself as unwanted when seeking a job and getting little response. And it’s easy to feel like an outcast when times are hard and nothing you do seems to be worth much.
My heart is heavy, and I’m afraid I don’t have a lot more to add at the moment. I’ll just say that Esmeralda is right that we are all literally children of God, and He is mindful of our individual plights. God will help the outcasts, just like He has always done, as we exercise faith in Him.
