I don’t usually express excitement about a movie that hasn’t come out yet, but I’m going to make an exception for The Oath (2023). It’s coming out this Friday, December 8. One of my brothers told me about it a little while ago, and I was amazed that something like it was even made.
I grew up loving The Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur, and other Biblical epics. The Oath is in a similar vein. However, it is a little different than those other films because this one is based on another book of scripture that also testifies of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon. It tells a story involving the final prophet in the Book of Mormon, Moroni (pronounced more-owe-nigh). I’m not really sure how it’s going to play out, but I’m just excited to see something like this on the big screen.
I’ve already bought tickets, and I plan to see it next Tuesday. Hopefully I’ll be able to sing its praises in a future article. In the meantime, I would encourage you to check out The Oath’s trailer and possibly watch it for yourself.
This is the kind of movie I want to see more of from the entertainment industry, so I really hope it succeeds.
